Turn them off. In Firefox, tabs are an option that can be disabled in the Preferences. I don’t know about IE, as I don’t use Windows.

In Mozilla Firefox browser, go to TOOLS-OPTIONS and goto the ‘Tabs’ section.
Then untick the following 2 boxes:
– Untick "Open new windows in new tabs instead"
– Untick "Always show the tab bar"
This should make it act as if there weren’t any tabs
ALSO
In Internet Explorer (most recent versions) go to TOOLS-INTERNET OPTIONS and click on the settings for tabs.
Then uncheck the box at the top which says "Enable tabbed browsing…"
Then restart Internet Explorer and that should work
Hope thats helpful
