How can you create a batch that makes a message pop up when you open the Internet browser?

Posted on December 21st, 2009 by admin

I’m trying to create a batch so that when you open up the Internet Explorer browser, a window pops up with a custom message that I choose. I want it to be close-able and only open once.

@echo off
echo.
echo This is the message that you wanted to show yourself
echo It can be multiple lines if you like. It will appear in a
echo command prompt window and wait for you to press a key
echo.
pause
%1

Copy the above code into notepad and save the file somewhere that you can find it. Name it "iex.bat". Change the text that I typed to match the message you want to display. If you want to add more lines, each line must begin with the word "echo". Blank lines are created by typing echo with a period on the end.

Now go to the shortcut you use to open internet explorer from your desktop or startmenu and right click on it. Click on "properties." In the dialog that appears, there is a space called target. Do not delete what is there! just click on it and then hit the ‘home’ key on your keyboard to take you to the beginning of the line. Type in the file location of the batch file you just made, and add a space at the end. For example, mine looks like this:

C:\mypath\iex.bat "C:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe"

Click OK, and it should run every time you click on that shortcut. This will work for any shortcuts you have.

Ive just got a new computer and it has the lastest internet browser with all the new "tabs" jargon and I prefer the old interface. How do I return to that version.

Tools > Internet Options > where it says…change how webpages are displayed in tabs… click on setting > uncheck > click…OK. Then > Apply > OK. This will remove the tabs.. now its similar to old IE.

How can I set a password on my internet browser?

Posted on December 16th, 2009 by admin

I work for a chain of restaurants with IBM till systems. We will soon be connecting our tills to DSL modems. I need to allow certain programs to access our modem / internet connection (security cameras and credit card processing software), but I don’t want my employees surfing the web. Does anyone know how to put a password on the browser so that they can’t bring up the window?

What operating system are you using? If you are running Windows XP, 2000 or 2003, you can apply Group Policy which restricts the use of Internet Explorer. If you can provide more details on your operating system, I’ll be in a better position to advice.

when i start the internet browser on my psp it say that a DNS error has occured?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin

when istart the internet browser on my psp it say that a DNS error has occured. i followed all the instruction to how to download windows vista but it doesnt work. plz help

You have the wrong DNS address. We’d have to know your setup. Are you connected directly to your modem? To your router? Is the connection (wired or wireless, whichever you’re using) set to obtain an IP address automatically, or do you have the IP and DNS addresses entered by hand?

how do i stop my internet browser from automatically going to google images?

Posted on November 29th, 2009 by admin

Whenever i open my internet browser and go to youtube or myspace or something, it loads the page then right away gos to google images. its seriously frustrating cause i been wanting to upload some videos and phots to youtube and myspace but i cant. do i have to update my browser or something? is there an add on i need to make this stop?

I have had something similar to this happen to me before, and it was because my computer was infected with some sort of virus. My homepage would keep changing, and I could not change it back. My advice is to scan your computer for viruses and spyware, and that might fix it. If you need to download an anti-virus type of program, go to cnet.com, they have many good anti-virus utilities that are free.

Why does my internet browser freeze after I wake my computer from Standby?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin

I have an HP laptop. After I wake the computer from Standby, occassionally Internet Explorer or FireFox will freeze while loading a page. The only way to remedy this is by holding the power button for 5 seconds to force the computer off. I cannot exit the browser, and if I try to shut down or restart it will begin to close programs, but then it will not continue.

Typically it is what thay call a software conflict, two or more activities are competing and this may freeze your screen. check your notification area in the lower right corner of your task bar and see what programs are there, some could be running in the background possibly causing the problem.

What is this new internet browser FireFox?

Posted on November 24th, 2009 by admin

What is this new internet browser and is it better than any other internet browser? What is the actual link to this browser? Does anyone on here use it?

yes, i do use fire fox. fire fox is a great new way to look at the internet, it tells you most of the time when a site is a scam by the reports sent in by people that use fire fox. Fire fox is a way just to help you stay safe on the internet because of all the hacking lately.
I would personly say to get fire fox but tahts just me, its saved me so many times from downloading fake files and logging into fake log-ins.

Good luck with fire fox
