Why does my browser close upon opening a java applet?

Posted on December 21st, 2009 by admin

When I click on a link to a web-page that contains a java applet, my browser automatically closes. I have tried this in different browsers and I have the same problem. Any ideas?

It sounds like your Java VM (Virtual Machine) is faulty.

My advice is to uninstall the VM or make sure you have an up to date version of the VM.

The VM is shared between all of the browsers, which is why is occurs in all browsers.

To uninstall the VM, click into your Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features if you’re using Vista.)

Look for a program called "Java (TM)" or "Sun Java" or something similar.

The very old version of the VM is called "Microsoft VM" but I doubt you have got that installed because it was finished a long time ago.

Uninstall all of those, there may be more than one.

Restart your computer.

Then go to the following web site:

http://www.java.com

Click on the Free Java Download button and install the latest version of the Java VM.

You normally get diverted to a test page when the install is finished, so just confirm that it now works properly.

Web Design: How do I get the browser to automatically redirect to another page if a certain condition is true?

Posted on December 19th, 2009 by admin

I know I need to use an if-statement but what do I need to use so that the browser redirects the user to another web page? Please help.

It depends on what you are trying to do.

If you are trying to make a site redirect, use Javascript to detect the user agent and redirect to your other site.

If you are trying to redirect a mobile device, you have to use PHP, because many mobile devices do not have Javascript enabled on them.

If you are just trying to redirect IE or a version of IE, use this:
<!–[if ie]><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://www.example.com/"><![endif]–>

I cannot provide the specific code we use where I work but if you google for ‘detect user agent’ and ‘redirect’ you should be able to come up with something.

how do i remove ie7?

Firstly, in IE Internet option>programs UN check "Internet explorer should check as default"
and in Firefox
tools>option>main check "Always check to see firefox is the default browser on start up"

What could be causing a div overlapping issue on same browser but different computers?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin

We have this problem in our website. Our website looks good in firefox browser here in our computer. But it has an overlapping issue on someone else’s computer using also firefox as a browser. He’s only the one (of all we know), who’s encountering the overlapping issue. What may be the cause of this?

Different version interprets the command differently. So you need to recode it so that it works on every version.

How do I change my default internet browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox?

Posted on December 8th, 2009 by admin

I already have Mozilla Firefox downloaded and installed. I want it to go to it every time a browser is opened.

In Firefox,
Click on Tools at the top,
Then Options,
Then on Advanced in the top right of the window that pops up.
Then click on Check Now near the bottom of that window.

It will ask if you want to set it as default.
Choose yes.

That should do it.

What is a browser that is comparable to Slimbrowser?

Posted on November 29th, 2009 by admin

I use slimbrowser and I absolutely love it. However lately it has been glitchy and suffering from errors which cause it to close unexpectedly and that will just not fly. So, I need a new browser that has the same ability to AUTOMATICALLY open a new tab when I type in a new address. My husband already recommended Firefox and said he thought you could set the preferences to do this, but we already tried and cannot. Are there any other browsers that do this? Thank you.

Google Chrome is great – it has as many tabs as you like for new addresses – plus each tabs runs in its own thread so if one tab crashes you won’t loose all your Chrome browser sessions – give it a try!

How will I get the opera browser on the nintendo wii?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin

Ok i know that it will be free until June, but what i’m wondering is will the opera be on the system when i buy it or what ? How will i get the browser?

The Opera browser will not be pre-loaded on the system, no.

You will go into the Wii Shop Channel located in the top-right corner of the Wii Menu screen, and the browser will be available for download there (at no charge until June as you mentioned.)

How can I install a Internet browser for my blackberry 8307e?

Posted on November 24th, 2009 by admin

While making a backup of my blackberry 8307e, I accidentally erased the browser on my smart-phonee. How can I Install a new one?

Just resend your service books.

Go to options>advanced options>host routing table. Scroll up to the top line, press your menu button and select register now. You will get a registration sent msg, then you will receive an email saying you are registered with the network.

After that, I suggest a battery pull..and your sim card too..if your on a network that uses them. Leave them out for 30 seconds then put them back in.
You should have the service books for the internet back, along with your globe icon.
If not, then call your provider and have them push it to you.
