I have not used IE for many years. I find it to be unstable and it won’t open many sites. I’m forced to use it when downloading from Microsoft, but other then that I don’t us it at all. I went with Firefox many years ago and have never looked back. The fox is way more stable, faster, and much more secure.

As for security software, following is a list of what I consider to be the best. Again, I have been using free security software for many years and have never had any problems.

All of the following anti virus programs are free for personal use. All work very well, but my personal favorite is “Avast”.

Only run one anti virus program to avoid conflicts.

People love to hate Microsoft products but for me Explorer works fine ,is stable and secure.Also as antivirus choice Microsoft’s security essentials is very good,light ans implements with windows nicely.

Use Firefox…this is the best because it has the speed, features, good security and browsing options.

Gr8 idea of using McAfee..But still I would recommend you to use Kaspersky antivirus.. as it is my own experience of using kaspersky antivirus on vista.

Due to ease of use I would recommend the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) and also because many monetary transactions like with banks happens smoother. For ‘greater security’ you could use Google Chrome or Firefox. Personally I would bet on IE for standard users.
Antivir is a great free antivirus software. I would recommend that you make the investment and purchase either Mcafee or Norton. In the long run it’s much cheaper than to get a virus or spyware and lose data!

Hi,

for the browser use firefox as this has good security and browsing options. this is from experience aswell as knowledge.

as for the anti-virus please use avira antivir personal. this is free and a great tool.

best browser if your looking for speed definatly google chrome by far but personally Firefox is the best because of the speed and features.

Not a bad idea if you dont want to use it… i had McaFee loved it much costs a lot. I would recommend AVG just because its the best free antivirus software out atm and you wont find a better free antivirus just because of the main reason they all charge, appart from some types of kaspersky i think that may be free if you look into it and it is i would recommend kaspersky.

Or do what a lot of people do and use someone elses virus scan by zipping the download folder and take it to your house.. but this is illegal so i would recommend it lol..

get norton or something, i heard that one is pretty good, and you might want to do that quickly because your computer can now easily get a virus
