Firefox a free web-browser..?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

Is Firefox a free web browser?

I want to have both IE8 and Firefox but IE8 my "default."

How can I do that and also PLEASE HELP!

Go to the Firefox website and download it. It’s totally free; there’s no extra paid version or anything. All you need to do is click run when it asks you if you want to run or save and then follow the instructions that will come up. When Firefox first loads up, it will ask you if you want to set it as the default browser. Click no, and IE8 will stay as your default.

Please tell me what is a good free online browser based game?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I want a free game because I have good disk games but they don’t work on my dad’s computer.
Please don’t say wow, runescape, or any of the adventure quest games
Also I want one that I don’t have to download.
And I would like a game that is RPG, or a good strategy card game (like elements)

What happens if you delete all the web browsers off your computer?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

Obviously you can’t get on the web to re-download them.

So…how do you get back on the web? lol

You’ll find it quite hard to access the internet.
Though for windows, although it is possible, I believe it is pretty hard to completely delete the default windows explorer.

Otherwise you’ll have restore your system or get them off the disc that came with your comp.
Or you can get a friend to put the Firefox installer or some other browser onto a USB and transfer it to your comp.

How to stop videos playing automatically on my internet browser?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I use Google Chrome internet browser and I frequently use a mobile broadband dongle. I want to be able to stop videos automatically playing (this always happens on sites like Bebo and Sky News) because it uses a lot of data and sometimes I don’t even notice.
Would really appreciate any help.

what videos, do you mean advertisements…..you can disable flash player but i don’t know how with chrome, to disable flash player in ie8 go to tools > manage add ons > disable shockwave object

How do I get my favorite sites to autumatically load when I open up my web browser?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

When I go on the internet, I generally check the same 5 or 6 sites. How can I set up my web browser to automatically bring them all up at once?

This is rather simple, but this solution only applies to Mozilla Firefox.

On your browser, select Tools->Options, then set your homepages like this:

http://www.yahoo.com | http://www.flickr.com | http://www.facebook.com

As you can see, there are these separators "|" found between each and every individual site you want to open at startup.

Hope this works.

How do i fix my browsers? Firefox and Safari stop working when I visit many websites.?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I’m on a Mac. Firefox and Safari seem to stop working when ever I go to certain websites. (Not bad websites, it happens frequently such as like youtube and local news websites). During loading, I get the pinwheel of death and I have to force quit the browsers. I think it might be a flash problem. Anyway, if you know how to fix this, please help. And I am really dumb, so instructions will be appreciated.

Dunno about Macs, but on a PC it’s usually IE8 needing to be reset to Defaults in, Options, Advanced.

Which is much better browser IE 8 or Mozilla Firefox 3?

Posted on January 26th, 2010 by admin

I am using fire fox 3. Video streaming is fast. Closing browser gives you an option to delete cookies, saved password, history, authenticated session, offline web data, and cache. Is Internet Explorer 8 much better?

It really depends on what you are looking for in a browser. Internet Explorer has been around for ages, and has the full support of Microsoft behind it. It is sleek and powerful, but on old(ish) computers that may slow you down a bit. Still, as the standard browser, you won’t find many other negatives with it.
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/ie8/getitnow.mspx

Mozilla FireFox is a highly customizable browser. New themes and gadgets are released every week, and this gives a personal feel to it when viewing websites. Although it slows the computer down, it isn’t as bad as IE, though on a fast computer, you won’t notice much of a difference between the two.
FireFox 3.0.1: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Other options available are Opera Browser. This browser offers very limited customization features (only a colour change in fact), but because of this gives very fast browsing. it doesn’t require as many resources as IE or FF, but it isn’t very fun to browse in something that looks as out-of-date as it does.
Opera 9.52: http://www.opera.com/download/

The final major browser is Apple Safari. In my opinion it is the fastest of the 4 browser and my personal favourite. Its style is based on the iTunes layout and it doesn’t offer any customizability, but if you like iTunes, you’ll love this browser. Its major downfall is the fact that it doesn’t render (load) webpages very well. This can become very irritating while browsing so most people don’t give it a second thought. It does run very fast (even on slow computers) and has the fastest startup time of all browsers. If you find that the pages you usually visit work fine on Safari, you won’t have anything bad to say about it.
Safari 3.1.2: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/safari312forwindows.html

So it really depends on what kind of person you are and what type of computer you have. You can’t go wrong with IE or FF, but under stress, they perform slowly, Opera is a boring looking browser but can run where the other two can’t, and Safari has problems with many webpages, but is much the fastest of them all. I personally use all four of them (but IE and Safari are my main two). If Apple ever get the rendering process sorted, it would be my number 1 choice.

Hope that helps.

How come after I do a virus clean up, my browser’s download speed decreases dramatically?

Posted on January 26th, 2010 by admin

After I delete the trojans and spyware, and reboot, once I download something, the download time is unbearably slow compared to before. I don’t know what is going on, what can I do so that my download speed goes back to being as fast as it did?

Your virus cleaner might be cleaning off cookies and cached internet files, so your browser has to reload entire pages rather than refreshing them from the cache on your hard drive.

OR

It might be checking all of your downloads actively before letting them display.

OR
It might have closed some ports or forbidden some file types commonly used by the browser before.

It could be a lot of things. Look at your toolbar to see some processes that are going. Push control ALT DELETE to view the processes in greater detail and figure out what is taking up so much CPU cycles.

Good luck.
